Robot Individual winner
Barrera, 47, works for Microsoft as a software architect. He and his wife both come from bridge-playing families, and he enjoys playing online. “Online playing is becoming more important each day, and events like this are essential, especially in these days of pandemic.”
In third was Flight B winner Samuel Ieong of Mountain View CA, who scored 68.59%. Ieong won Flight B in fall 2018. Ieong also had a strong first day; his session scores were 74.78%, 66.29% and 64.71%.
Michael Wang of Richmond Hill ON won Flight C. His 65.93% average was third in B and 10th overall. Wang began playing in the 1980s in China and has mostly played online. It wasn’t until a couple years ago that he began playing in Toronto clubs. “I haven’t found time to play any NABC yet, but this robot individual gives me a taste and I am already looking forward to the next one!”
