Legges win Mini-Blues
Winston Legge and Jennie Legge of Pensacola FL won the Mini-Blue Ribbon Pairs on Thursday, getting their first NABC win by more than a board.
On Tuesday the Legges scored 49.22% and 57.38% to qualify 20th out of 52. After Wednesday’s semifinal sessions they moved up to 11th with scores of 53.23% and 54.85%. It was the first final session that boosted them into the lead with 64.84%. And their 48.36% last session was enough to hold on, with a final score of 412.31.
David Langer and Mark Ginsburg of Buffalo Grove IL finished second with 396.13. They were pleased to get their best result to date, as it is likely to be Langer’s last opportunity to play in this event (he will go over 6000 points soon). It was their first time playing behind screens, which took some getting used to.
