ACBL Regs Do Not Recognize Sports Doping

Geir Helgemo, one of the top bridge players in the world, has been suspended by the World Bridge Federation because he tested positive for a substance banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency. WADA is a foundation initiated by the International Olympic Committee to monitor drugs in sports.
The ACBL is not a participant in WADA and does not have a doping policy. Because Helgemo’s situation does not constitute an ethical violation under the ACBL Code of Disciplinary Regulations (CDR 2.2.3), he is welcome to play in any and all ACBL-sanctioned events for which he is eligible.
