The Fall 2021 Robot Individual was held on BBO Nov. 20–22. Over 2600 contestants battled the bots, but it was Samuel Ieong of Mountain View CA who scored the best. Ieong started off with a first session score of 71.36% and followed that up with 68.10% and 64.85% in the second and third sessions for a combined score of 68.10%. He clipped second place Andrea Boldrini of Italy, whose combined score was 67.95%. In third place was Chris Willenken of New York NY with 67.45%. Ieong was also first in Flight B. He previously won that flight in this event in fall 2018 and spring 2020.

 

 

 

Wei Situ

Wei Situ of Fort Mill SC topped the Flight C players with a combined score of 65.68%. Originally from China, Situ moved to the U.S. in 2015 and joined the ACBL. A retired mechanical design engineer, he has been playing bridge since 1973 and has won several provincial and municipal championships in China. “I love this game so much, I play more than 20,000 cards every year,” said Situ. “I’m very interested in playing with robots because they are elusive but logical.”
