Fall 2008 North American Bridge Championships

Boston is one of America’s oldest cities, with a rich economic and social history dating back to 1630. This vibrant, thriving city is renowned for its museums and symphony, world-class educational institutions, champion sports franchises, as well as its place at the very forefront of American history.

Boston is home to Harvard and MIT and hundreds of other distinguished colleges and universities. Some of the world's finest inpatient hospitals are located in Boston, including the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the renowned Massachusetts General Hospital. Devoted fans cheer the World Series champion Boston Red Sox and three-time Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, but Boston is also home to the legendary Bruins and Celtics. Every year, millions of people visit Boston to take in the historic neighborhoods of Beacon Hill and Back Bay, as well as the landmarks surrounding the city in Concord, Lexington, Plymouth and Sturbridge.

Before, after or between bridge events, take time to dine on chowder at Faneuil Hall, wander around the gorgeous Public Garden (and neighboring Boston Common), and shop on famed Newbury Street. Don’t forget the historic Freedom Trail and relive the city's Revolutionary roots (for free). Tour the John F. Kennedy Library, with its award-winning exhibits of Kennedy family memorabilia. Or take in the sweeping beauty of Cape Cod, Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard—easily accessible by car, boat or light plane. Home boy Paul Revere would want you to keep riding long after midnight!
