Transportation
If you’re flying in or out of Atlanta, chances are you’ll find yourself at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport; it’s the most popular airport in the city and one of the busiest airports in the world. Serving as the main hub for Delta, the airport has a domestic and an international terminal, with the former sitting on the west side and the latter on the east.

A very large number of cities and airlines have a direct flights to Atlanta. Direct flights to Atlanta (ATL): (flightconnections.com)

MARTA
The best way to get around Atlanta is by MARTA, Atlanta’s public transportation system. MARTA operates both bus and rail lines throughout the city and into nearby suburbs. For $2.50 per person, you can take MARTA from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport directly to the host hotel.
There is a MARTA station located very close to the Marriott Marquis. Take the MARTA North-South line to the Peachtree Center Station. Once at the station, follow the signs to the Harris Street exit after getting off the train, and then to Peachtree Street East. At street level, turn right to walk north along Peachtree Street. Turn right again at the first intersection on Harris Street, then left at the next block on Peachtree Center Avenue. It is about a three-minute walk. If you don’t want to walk outside, you can also exit the station into the Peachtree Center mall, where there’s a sky bridge connection. Turn left after Caribou Coffee and right at the ATM. Follow signs to the Marriott.

The MARTA fare is $2.50 per ride ($5.00 roundtrip). There is a senior rate (for those 65 and over) on MARTA that reduces the rate to just $1.00 each way. A MARTA senior card needs to be obtained to get that rate. Visit the MARTA website for details.

Parking
If you want to drive to the tournament, there are various parking options available. There is a surface lot just south of the hotel off Courtland Street that costs $15.00 for a full day.

Parking at the Marriott Marquis hotel is $27.50 per day. Please see the NABC Information Desk to receive your voucher (Located on the Marquis Level/Second Floor). This rate is available to all players.

The local committee is offering a discount off that rate for those that carpool with at least three additional Bridge Players in the car. After the discount, the rate is just $16.00 per day. To obtain this discount, fill out a carpool discount form at the NABC Information desk (Located on the Marquis Level/Second Floor).

Ride Share
If you can obtain cheap or free parking in the downtown area, there is a Lyft/Uber drop off area right next to the front door of the hotel. It is under cover in the event there is rain.

Stratification for open regional events is unlimited/2500/750 unless otherwise noted. Stratification for gold rush events is 750/400/200 unless otherwise noted.

Regional top-flight, mid-flight and open pair events play 26 or 27 boards per session. Gold Rush and side pairs play 24 boards per session. Swiss and Round Robin team events typically play 24 boards per session, depending on the event or bracket size.

In gold-point events of two or more sessions, overall awards and section tops are paid in gold to any strat that has a maximum of 750 or higher. Side Pairs Series pay gold only to the open strat, and it is necessary to play two or more sessions in the series to earn gold.

All regional team events use the 20-point VP scale.

I/N events are stratified as appropriate at the discretion of the director. No player may be over 300. Members with 0-5 masterpoints play free in I/N events on Friday, November 24.

Conditions of Contest

Like all Olympic sports, bridge has a precise set of rules for competition. The Conditions of Contest detail these protocols and regulations for every event played at the NABC. Whether you need to know the rules for General Knockout Teams or you are looking for specific information about Blue Ribbon Pairs, the Conditions of Contest will guide you.

Partnership Desk

The online partnership requests can be submitted through Tuesday, November 21. Please go to the Partnership Desk for pairing once the tournament has started. If you submitted a partnership request and did not get a partner, we will fill out a partnership card for you and place it on the partnership board.
