Two teams from North America are set to contend for gold at the 43rd World Bridge Team Championships in Lyon, France.

In the open team championship, USA2 advanced to the final of the Bermuda Bowl by beating Bulgaria 216–182. They will face a strong French team in a 128-board match that ends Saturday. Playing for USA2 are Martin Fleisher, Joe Grue, Chip Martel, Brad Moss, Jacek Pszczola and Michael Rosenberg; Jan Martel is the nonplaying captain.

Bulgaria and New Zealand will play off for the bronze medal.

Playing for the d’Orsi Trophy, the USA2 Senior team defeated Sweden 169–34 to meet Italy in the 96-board final. Italy won its semifinal match against India 204—142. Team USA2 is Michael Becker, David Berkowitz, Allan Graves, Neil Silverman, Alan Sontag, Jeff Wolfson and npc Steve Garner.

The Women’s teams vying for the Venice Cup are England and China; Sweden and Poland will battle for the bronze.

In the transnational 5th Funbridge World Youth Championships, Team USA outscored Japan 164–80 to win the gold medal. The USA Junior squad is playing captain Kevin Rosenberg, Anam Tebha, Adam Grossack, Zachary Grossack, Christian Jolly and Adam Kaplan.
