Club and Cruise Directors Course (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, March 6, 7 and 8)

This comprehensive course prepares candidates for directing club and bridge cruise games. Anyone interested in becoming a club director or a director aboard a cruise ship is invited to participate. Bridge Teaching Dynamics Workshop (March 8, 9 and 10 Thursday, Friday and Saturday)

Want to become an ACBL-accredited teacher? Now is the BEST time to become accredited.

Come participate in the March pilot of our Bridge Teaching Dynamics (BTD) Workshop that is becoming the centerpiece of the new Teacher Accreditation Program (TAP) we are rolling out this year. The new workshop is fast paced, engaging and will better prepare you to deal with student challenges. It is based on the Best Practices recommended and validated by several hundred of your teacher colleagues in the recent survey.

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY: Besides earning TAP accreditation, the pilot gives you the opportunity to earn a Teaching Excellence Certificate that will distinguish you among the list of ACBL’s accredited teachers.

The workshop will be co-facilitated by Carol Mathews, who’s earned top reviews teaching 21 ACBL TAP classes, and the designer of the workshop, Grace Major, who’s earned five national awards for contemporary workshop designs.

Reception for Club Officials and Teachers (Friday, March 9)

Enjoy ACBL’s thank you reception for the club officials and teachers who recruit and retain our members. All club managers, teachers and club directors are encouraged to attend.

Learn Bridge in A Day?® (Saturday, March 10)

You’ll nail the basics of bridge in this interactive class that has both instruction and coached play. If you’re just starting, returning to the game or wanting to “test the waters” before taking formal lessons, this course is for you. The concentrated course includes both class instruction and coached play

Audrey Grant’s Continuing Education for Teachers and Club Managers (Sunday, March 11)

When it comes to bridge, Audrey Grant is a household name. For decades, she has taught students, teachers and club owners across the world. Her hands-on approach and creative use of the table, cards and bid boxes has helped keep students engaged, excited and focused.
Audrey will walk through and explain teaching techniques in this hour-and-a-half seminar. Following the seminar, you can attend her free two-hour bridge lesson. You’ll observe Audrey’s techniques at work and see how she leaves each student hungering to learn more.

Notrump in A Day? (Sunday, March 11)

Be one of the first to experience the new “In A Day” workshop series, Notrump in a Day. This workshop explores basic notrump bidding and the most common responses, from raises to Stayman and Jacoby Transfers. Want to be sure when to use which convention, what your second bid should be or what your partner is telling you? Then this workshop is for you!

Course includes student workbook, presentation and practice hands.

Half Table Seminar (Monday, March 12)

Eliminate Sitouts! Using BBO Robots to Fill In Half Tables. With two laptops or tablet computers, it is an easy process to have two Robots fill in at your club games to avoid irritating and long sitouts. Learn the process, see it in action, and hear from clubs that are already doing it. Besides the developers of the process, we will have representatives from The Common Game and BBO to answer any questions. Designed for club owners, managers, and directors. No charge.
