Defense (Heart) Series Errata (rev. 04/02)

Note that on pg 261, the "YOU" hand should be on the West side not the East.

The following data shows how to correct your Defense Teacher's Manual page references so that they correspond to the current (2002) version of the Student Text. Whether you have an older or a newer version of the Teacher's Manual, the following page numbers should be used to reference to student text.

The first column is the Exercise Number in each lesson. The second number is the current page number for that exercise in the new Student Texts. If you are teaching students with the newer textbooks, we suggest you make references to the new page numbers in your Teacher's Manual using the following data.

The ACBL "Bidding" (Club) Series Errata Sheet (for 12/00 revised)

If you notice problems with the the ACBL Bridge Series "Bidding" please let us know at the Education Department. Below are three major corrections, one of which deals with page 177 of the Student Textbook and the other which corrects page number discrepancies between the older Teacher's Manual and the newer Student Textbooks.

Page 177:  Under "The Role of the Responder" on page 177, the third sentence starts off with "Opener's strength usually has been..."  All the rest of the text on this page after the word "been" should be crossed out so that the sentence continues on the next page with "...described within 3 or 4 points."

Page 233: The 4th hand listed down the left side of the page is incorrect. The correct hand is:

 AQ10
 962
 KQ10
 KQJ6

The following data shows how to correct your ACBL Bridge Series: Bidding Teacher's Manual page references so that it corresponds to the current (12/00) version of the Student Text. The first column is the Exercise Number in each lesson. The second column has two numbers:

The first is the page number for the exercise as it is listed in your Teacher's Manual (and in older versions of the Student Text), the second number is the current page number for that exercise in the new Student Texts. The ACBL "Bidding" (Club) Series Errata Sheet (for 5/02) revised)

The following data shows how to correct your ACBL Bridge Series: Bidding Teacher's Manual page references so that it corresponds to the 5/02 (find your version by looking at thre revised date on page ii) version of the Student Text. The first column is the Exercise Number in each lesson. The second column has two numbers: The first is the page number for the exercise as it is listed in your Teacher's Manual (and in older versions of the Student Text), the second number is the current page number for that exercise in the new Student Texts. If you are teaching students with the newer textbooks, we suggest you make references to the new page numbers in your Teacher's Manual using the following data.

A few of the exercises in lesson 1 have exchanged numbers. Your teacher's manual refers to exercises 9 & 10 in lesson 1, but in the 2002 version of the student textbook, these are exercises 6 & 7 repectively.  Your teacher's manual also refers to exercises 6,7, & 8 in lesson 1, but in the 2002 version of the student textbook, these are exercises 8,9, & 10 respectively.

Page 248: The first hand listed on the left-side of the student text is incorrect.  The correct hand should be as follows:

 AQ10
962
KQ10
KQJ6

One final note: In lesson 6 exercise 3 has been broken up in the student manual to exercise 3A and 3B. Basically it is the same exercise except that it has been broken into 2 parts in the textbooks.

Teacher Manual/Student Text Errata for the 1/04 version of the ACBL Bridge Series student textbook, Bidding

Please note that the following information may be a bit difficult to follow. Please make sure you understand this information before starting the exercises with your class for Lesson One.

The exercises on “The Language of Bidding” and “Trick Scores for Partscores and Games” have been mistakenly moved in the student textbooks from the end of the lesson to directly before the pre-dealt hand exercises. In other words, in the student textbooks these two exercises are now listed as exercises six and seven instead of nine and ten. Therefore, when you teach the final two exercises on the two topics above, make sure to refer to them as exercises six and seven for the students and make sure to let them know that they are on page 22.

Because of this error, exercises eight, nine and ten in the textbook are actually exercises six, seven and eight in your teacher’s manual.

If you are still confused please look at the following:

The ACBL "Play of the Hand" (Diamond) Series Errata Sheet (rev. 02/02)

The ACBL Bridge Series: Play of the Hand student text has recently been revised. The teacher’s manual has not. This has led to some page number discrepancies for the page numbers of the exercises. The teacher’s manual has page numbers for the exercises as they appeared in the older student textbooks. The easiest way to tell if the student textbooks are the older or newer version is by looking at the title of the student texts. The older student text books are titled "The Diamond Series," and the new ones are titled "Play of the Hand. The content in both versions of the textbooks is essentially identical.

Here are the page number corrections for the teacher’s manual so that the page numbers will correspond to the new student textbooks. The first number is the exercise number in each lesson. The first page number is as it is in the teachers manual. The second page number is the page it corresponds to in the new textbook for the Diamond Series. So "1 page 23/22" would mean exercise 1 is listed as being on page 23 (of the student textbook) according to your teacher’s manual, but the new student textbooks actually have that exercise on page 22.

Commonly Used Conventions Errata Sheet #2

Teachers, if you have recently ordered the Commonly Used Conventions textbook (starting October 2003), please read on so that you may note the changes that have taken place and use your Teacher's Manual and E-Z Deal cards accordingly.

The ACBL Bridge Series Student Textbook, Commonly Used Conventions, has been updated in October, 2003. There is no longer a discrepancy between Lessons 3 & 4 in the Student Textbook and the Teacher=s Manual. 2NT as a limit raise has been moved from Chapter 4 to Chapter 3 in the Student texts. Concurrently, exercise six in Chapter 4 has been moved to exercise eight in Chapter 3.

In addition, various ABid and Play@ hands have been rotated in the student textbooks so that there is now a more even distribution for declaring the hands. Chapter 6 - hand 2 has been rotated 180 degrees so that North will be the declarer instead of South. Chapter 6 - Hand 4 has been rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise so that East will be declarer instead of South. Chapter 7 - hand 3 has been rotated 180 degress so that South is the declarer instead of North. Chapter 8 - hand 3 has been rotated 90 degrees clockwise so that West is the declarer instead of South. Please make sure to rotate the Commonly Used Conventions EZ Deal cards so that they now correspond to the texts for the various hands.
