Ed Schulte and Tom Kniest paired 64% games in the final of the Super Senior Pairs to win the contest by almost two boards. Schulte of Tampa and Kniest of the St. Louis area were in second place after Sunday’s qualifying round, but quickly moved into the lead during the final. The winners’ lead was substantial enough to hold off a late charge by runners-up Pat McDevitt of Brookline MA and Richard DeMartino ofRiverside CT.

McDevitt and DeMartino, who won the World Senior Pairs title in 2010, posted a 73% in the second final session.

The Super Senior Pairs, restricted to players 70 and older, is the second NABC title for the Schulte-Kniest partnership. They won the NABC Fast Open Pairs in 2012.
