Get Involved with The Longest Day
The Longest Day is a unique event that allows your bridge club to participate with ultimate flexibility. Registration for the event will begin on March 18. Here’s how your club can participate:
Step 1: Visit thelongestday.alz.org, to register your club as a fundraising team and complete your profile page. When signing up your team, make sure you list the ACBL as your affiliate company. Once registered, you will receive a kit with all the necessary tools to make your event a success. An Alzheimer’s Association representative will contact you within a few days of registration to learn if you need any additional assistance. Click here to see step-by-step instruction on how to register for The Longest Day.
Step 2: On June 21st 2013, the goal is to participate in bridge related activities from sunup to sundown. Recruit players to join your team and assign segments of the day to each member of your club team. For example, eight players may sign up to begin a game at sunrise, then handoff the bridge play to another eight players when the game has concluded. You may also choose to participate in other activities during the 16-hour The Longest Day challenge such as bridge exhibitions in your city or free bridge lessons for your community.
Step 3: Fundraise to fuel the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association and honor those facing the disease. Fundraising tools will be provided in every registration kit.
Step 4: Brainstorm creative ways to get the community involved in The Longest Day, while also raising awareness of the benefits bridge has on healthy aging. Publicity tools will be provided in every registration kit.
Step 5: Play bridge and spend the longest day honoring those who face Alzheimer’s every day! Conclude your day with a sunset celebration to recognize your team's accomplishments.
