Update from Bali: One Canadian, Four U.S. Teams Advance

The round-robin phase of the 41st World Bridge Team Championships in Bali, Indonesia, has been completed, and the top eight qualifiers in the Open, Women’s and Senior divisions now prepare for the quarterfinal round of the knockout phase.

Five ACBL-based squads advanced to the quarterfinal round.

World Open Team Championship (the Bermuda Bowl):
USA1 (John Kranyak–Gavin Wolpert, Kevin Bathurst–Kevin Dwyer, Robert Levin–Steve Weinstein and npc Shane Blanchard) will face Canada (Judith Gartaganis–Nicholas Gartaganis, Daniel Korbel–Darren Wolpert, Paul Thurston–Jeff Smith and npc Hazel Wolpert).
Other match-ups: Monaco vs. England, Italy vs. China, and Poland vs. Netherlands.

World Women’s Team Championship (the Venice Cup):
USA1 (Barbara Sonsini–Judi Radin, Lynn Deas–Beth Palmer, Irina Levitina–Kerri Sanborn and npc Rozanne Pollack) takes on England. USA2 (Disa Eythorsdottir–Janice Seamon-Molson, Jenny Wolpert–Jill Levin, Jill Meyers–Migry Zur Campanile and npc Sue Picus) plays Poland.
Other match-ups: Netherlands vs. Turkey and China vs. France.

World Senior Bowl (for the d’Orsi Seniors Trophy):
USA2 (Carolyn Lynch–Mike Passell, Roger Bates–Garey Hayden, Marc Jacobus–Eddie Wold and npc Donna Compton) will battle Scotland.
Other match-ups: France vs. Netherlands, Germany vs. Indonesia, and Belgium vs. Poland.
