Broma Lou Reed 1932–2013

Broma Lou Reed, a Grand Life Master from Boulder CO, died June 14. She was 81. Reed was a member of the winning squad in the 1990 Marsha May Sternberg Women’s Board-a-Match Teams, and she was the only female Grand LM from Colorado.

Born in Las Animas CO, Reed attended Stevens University and the University of Colorado. She majored in business education and later got a master’s in the same field. She taught first in Oregon, then Nederland CO and then at Fairview High School in Boulder. She remained at Fairview until retirement.

Suzanne Jones, a partner and friend of Reed for 50 years, said, “Broma will be remembered as a formidable competitor and gracious winner.”

Reed is survived by her brother, Bob Chambers of Poncha Springs CO, two step-daughters, Dana Ault and Nancy Nottingham of Arizona, and best friend, Richard Cowling of Boulder.
