Turning Purple from Coast to Coast
Less than a month into registration and sixty ACBL “teams” have already pledged to participate in The Longest Day. From California to New Brunswick clubs are planning marathon duplicate bridge games, social bridge gatherings, bake sales and a myriad of other activities all to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Bridge Center of Austin has already recruited 10 Members to their fundraising team and raised a total of $1200!
“The membership of the Bridge Center of Austin is so excited to participate in this very worthwhile fundraiser. Many of us have been personally affected by this very debilitating disease and want to draw attention to the plight of those affected and their families,” said Gilda Reynolds of the Bridge Center of Austin. “Since bridge is our passion, all of the activities will revolve around the game. There will be pairs events all day, 5 free two-hour sessions of beginner lessons (open to the public), a silent auction, raffles, and food sales. Activities will go from 5:30 am to 10:00 pm.”
These clubs realize the opportunity The Longest Day presents is so much more than upgraded masterpoints. This is a chance to connect with the community over a mutual cause and share with them the fun of bridge and the many ways it positively impacts the lives of those who play.
