Buffett Cup Starts Monday
The 2012 Buffett Cup, the fourth in the series, will be held September 10-13 in Warren Buffett’s hometown of Omaha NE.
The tournament pits American players against Europeans and is held every other year in a similar format to professional golf's Ryder Cup.
The Americans won the first Buffett Cup in Dublin, Ireland, in 2006. The Europeans won in Louisville KY, in 2008, and the Americans won in Cardiff, Wales, in 2010 by a score of 109-89. Players win points as the competition progresses, and team totals at the end determine the winner.
Competing this year for Europe are: Fulvio Fantoni and Claudio Nunes of Italy; Ricco von Prooijen and Luke Verhees of the Netherlands; Michel and Thomas Bessis of France; Sally Brock and Nicola Smith of England; Kalin Karaivanov and Rumen Trendafilov of Bulgaria; and Paul Hackett and Tom Hanlon of England.
The Americans are: Bob Hamman and Justin Lall; Curtis Cheek and Joe Grue; Jill Levin and Jenny Wolpert; David Berkowitz and Alan Sontag; Joel Wooldridge and John Hurd; and Brad Moss and Fred Gitelman.
The competition will be broadcast live on Vugraph at Bridge Base Online.
