U.S. Bermuda Squad Trails; Senior Team Falls to France

With 32 boards left to play, USA 2 trails the Netherlands 244–189 in the final of the Bermuda Bowl. The contest concludes on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Playing for USA 2 are Kevin Bathurst, Daniel Zagorin, Joe Grue, Justin Lall, Joel Wooldridge, John Hurd and npc Curtis Cheek. The Dutch team is Sjoert Brink, Bas Drijver, Bauke Muller, Ricco van Prooijen, Louk Verhees, Simon de Wijs and npc Eric Laurant.

In the d’Orsi Senior Bowl, France narrowly defeated USA 2 by the score of 165–160. The U.S. lineup: Larry Kozlove, Gaylor Kasle, Peter Boyd, Steve Robinson, Neil Chambers, John Schermer and npc Donna Compton. Playing for France: Patrick Grenthe, Guy Lasserre, Francois Leenhardt, Patrice Piganeau, Philippe Poizat, Philippe Vanhoutte and npc Philippe Cronier.

In the Venice Cup final, France defeated Indonesia 196–103.

In the playoff for the Bermuda Bowl bronze medal, Italy easily defeated USA 1 167–69.

The Netherlands won the bronze medal in the Venice Cup, defeating England 109–91.

In the playoff for the d’Orsi Senior Bowl, Poland crushed USA 1 118–36 to take the bronze medal.
