ACBL Saddened By the Loss of Valued Employee

The ACBL was saddened to learn on Tuesday of the passing of a valued employee on Monday, September 5, 2011. Ronald Lee Montgomery, a six year employee in the Information Technology department, passed away at his home in Southaven, Mississippi.

“Ron always had time to help someone – whether internal or external – and was never too busy to find the solution to a problem,” said Information Technology Manager, Richard Oshlag.

While Ron’s position in the IT department was predominately serving internal employees with their technical needs, he always went above and beyond the call of duty to help the general ACBL membership. When the ACBL Convention Card Editor written by Lee Edwards (a program not typically supported by the ACBL) was unable to install on the Windows Vista platform, Ron took it upon himself to find a solution for the members who used this operating system. Any ACBL member who currently uses Windows Vista and the ACBL Convention Card Editor has Ron Montgomery to thank for their ability to install this product properly.

Beyond his job with the ACBL, Ron enjoyed woodworking, building computers, and racing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 15 years, Carol King Montgomery, and is survived by his two children, Joe Lee Montgomery and Susan Lynne Montgomery. Ron was also the very proud grandfather of his two grandchildren, Carolyne Sage and Nathan Lee.

Ron Montgomery will be greatly missed as an employee of the ACBL and as a friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
