Nadine Wood 1935-2011

ACBL Grand Life Master Nadine Wood died at her home in Silver Spring MD on Aug. 9. Wood was best known to many members for her decades of involvement in bridge governance representing District 6. Wood served six terms as the District 6 director (1992–2010), which was preceded by several years as a member of the ACBL Board of Governors of which she was the chair from 1990 to 1992.

Wood was very active at the local level as well, serving as president of the Mid-Atlantic Bridge Conference from 1990 to 1992, and as president of the Washington Bridge League from 1983 to 1986.

As tournament chairman for many regional and NABC events, Wood was also well known for her culinary skills, providing memorable treats for participants.

Wood won the Whitehead Women’s Pairs in 1989 and collected 11,682 masterpoints during her career.
