Bridge Club Delivers
by John MaGuirk
Hunger is a reality for one in six Americans. The Vanderbilt Bridge Club of Nashville TN decided to do something about that. We recently asked members to bring a five-ounce can of tuna to the club each time they played. Tuna is among the most common items donated to food banks because it’s portable and inexpensive. Vegetarian members of the club were encouraged to donate non-meat items such as peanut butter and canned vegetables.
Bridge players are generous and we are proud to announce that our goal of 500 cans was surpassed.
The food was delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank, an organization that collects and distributes food to not for profit agencies serving hungry people. Read more about Second Harvest at www.secondharvestmidtn.org.
