More Clubs Going Green

The Bay City (MI) Duplicate Bridge Club has “gone green.” In January, we began asking our players to bring their own mugs and glasses rather than using the throw away ones we provide. One lady was already bringing her own cup, and it always matched her outfit. I had been bringing my own glass because I like to have ice. We have been going green at home, so we began urging our players to do so.

The first reaction of most was that they wouldn’t remember, but it slowly caught on. We now have almost 50% cooperation, and it’s still growing! We think that this idea could be passed on to other clubs, and could make an impact on our environment — every little bit helps. My husband, Jim Pfromm, owns and directs this game. He also subs as the director part of the year at the Monday afternoon Midland MI game. Players are now bringing their own cups and mugs to that game as well, so it is catching on.
