Carruthers Leads CNTC Qualifiers

The team captained by John Carruthers led all qualifiers in the four-day round-robin of the Canadian National Team Championship, now in the quarterfinal stage in Penticton BC. The goal of the competitors is to qualify for the Bermuda Bowl in Sao Paulo, Brazil, starting Aug. 29. The Canadian Women’s Team Championship, also being played in Penticton, is in the semifinal stage. The matchups, by captain, are Francine Cimon (leading qualifier) versus Ina Demme and Julie Smith versus Pamela Nisbet. The CWTC winner is aiming for a berth in the Venice Cup in Sao Paulo.
