The ACBL has sanctioned a bridge club in Iraq, thanks to club manager Col. Gary Helman. Helman, known as "the desert doc," and his players are military personnel assigned to provide medical and dental treatment for prisoners and troops. The ACBLhas shipped free supplies to the club, which plans to compete in the ACBL-wide Instant Matchpoint Game Sept. 14. Helman is a Silver Life Master from Syosset NY.
