Playing for the USA are Bob Hamman - Zia Mahmood, Geoff Hampson - Dick Freeman, Alan Sontag - David Berkowitz, Tobi Sokolow - Janice Seamon-Molson, Howard Weinstein - Steve Garner and Roy Welland - Bjorn Fallenius. Donna Compton is team captain.

The European team consists of Sabine Auken (Germany) - Marion Michielsen (Netherlands), Michel and Thomas Bessis (France), Boye Brogeland - Espen Lindqvist (Norway), Tom Hanlon - Hugh McGann (Ireland), Tor Helness - Jan Peter Svendsen (Norway) and Michal Kwiecien - Jacek Pszczola (Poland). The tournament consists of three separate forms of competition: individual, pairs and teams.

The first Buffett Cup match took place in Dublin, Ireland, in 2006, as USA came from behind to win.
