USBC in Round of 16

Head-to-head play in the United States Bridge Championship continued Saturday, as 12 teams did battle to make it to the round of eight in the tournament that will decide the U.S. representative to the World Mind Sports Games in Beijing, China, in October.

Six of the team in play on Saturday will advance to the round of eight, when the Aubrey Strul and Nick Nickell teams, both with byes so far, will entry the fray.

Strul will play the winner of the round of 16 match between Mark Gordon and Jiang Gu, while Nickell will oppose the survivor of the Jim Mahaffey-Martin Fleisher match.

The other matches in play on Saturday, by captain, were Steve Robinson vs. Harry Tudor, George Jacobs vs. Glenn Milgrim, Warren Spector vs. Russ Ekeblad and Roy Welland vs. Paul Lewis.

The tournament is being played in Palm Beach Gardens FL concurrent with a regional in that city. You can watch play live at
