Spring 2005 NABC— March 10-20 in Pittsburgh, PA

Bridge players everywhere should keep the dates March 10–20 open on their calendars: that’s when Pittsburgh will host the 2005 Spring North American Bridge Championships. All events will be played at the David Lawrence Convention Center located at 1000 Fort Duquesne Blvd. Click here for hotel information. Reserve your housing now, as hotels are selling out quickly.

The NABCs are incredible experiences — exciting bridge in equally exciting venues. If you’re not familiar with modern Pittsburgh, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by this amazing city. Pittsburgh is an international city for business and pleasure. With a tempo that is 21st century and a temperament that is small town friendly, there is an emphasis on family and fun. Hospitality abounds in its rich ethnic neighborhoods, offering visitors a sampling of foods, customs, cultures and celebrations.

Climate

Mid-March is Spring’s audition. Days are pleasant, with average highs in the 50s, and the evenings are cool so you’ll want to pack sweaters and jackets.

Transportation

Pittsburgh International Airport serves the Pittsburgh area and is easily accessible from everywhere. Transportation between the airport and downtown Pittsburgh is available by taxis, shuttles, limousines and rental cars.

Hotel Shuttle

Thursday, March 10 Departure from the main entrance of the Omni William Penn to the East Lobby entrance of the David Lawrence Convention Center every 15 minutes from 6 p.m.-midnight.

Friday – March 11-19 Departure from the main entrance of the Omni William Penn to the East Lobby entrance of the David Lawrence Convention Center every 15 minutes from 8:30 a.m.-midnight. . More frequent departures 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Sunday, March 20 Departure from the main entrance of the Omni William Penn to the East Lobby entrance of the David Lawrence Convention Center every 15 minutes from 9 a.m.-11:30 p.m.

The round trip from the Omni to the Convention Center will take 15 minutes or less. Returns from the convention center will run every 15 minutes at 10, 25, 40 and 55 minutes past the hour.

Parking Shuttle

Shuttle service will be provided from the open air parking lot at 15th and Smallman streets. Departures every 10 minutes from 8:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.-midnight. Service also provided 6 p.m.-midnight Thursday, March 10.
