Battleship Missouri Memorial
(808) 973-2494 The USS Missouri was launched on January 29, 1944 and commissioned on June 11, 1944. It was assigned to the Pacific Third Fleet and steamed into Pearl Harbor on Christmas Eve, 1944.
Bishop Museum
Bishop Museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop in honor of his late wife, Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the last descendant of the royal Kamehameha family. The Museum was established to house the extensive collection of Hawaiian artifacts and royal family heirlooms of the Princess, and has expanded to include millions of artifacts, documents and photographs about Hawai‘i and other Pacific island cultures.

Punchbowl -- National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific
(808) 532-3720 Few national cemeteries can compete with the dramatic natural setting of the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. The “Punchbowl” was formed some 75,000 to 100,000 years ago during the Honolulu period of secondary volcanic activity. A crater resulted from the ejection of hot lava through cracks in the old coral reefs which, at the time, extended to the foot of the Koolau Mountain Range.

Shangri La – Doris Duke’s Home
(808) 532-3853 The Honolulu hideaway built by “the richest girl in the world” is now a museum showcasing her unique collection of Islamic art. In 1938, American tobacco heiress, Doris Duke, embarked on one of her periodic shopping trips to Europe and Asia. The 25, “the million dollar baby” – as newspapers had dubbed her when she was a child – was eagerly acquiring antiques and fragments of old buildings to outfit her lavish new home in Hawaii, which she called Shangri La.

Waikiki Aquarium
(808) 923-9741 Founded in 1904, the Waikiki Aquarium is the third oldest aquarium in the U.S.. The aquarium is part of the University of Hawaii and is located on the shores of Waikiki. Exhibits, programs and research focus on the aquatic life of the tropical Pacific. Over 2,500 organisms from 420 species are on exhibit at the aquarium. The aquarium is especially noted for its coral reef exhibit which allows visitors to get a close-up look at reef sharks, living coral, sea jellies, reef fish and more!
