Alfred Edye Manning-Foster (1874-1939) of London, England was one of the leading pre-war bridge players. Founder of Bridge Magazine and its editor until 1939, he was a foreign contributing editor of The Bridge World , and bridge correspondent of the Times (London) for many years. A leading figure in the European Bridge League, he was the founder and first president of the British Bridge League (1931). His writings include “Auction Bridge For All,” “Contract Bridge For All,” and “Baby Contract Book.”
