I joined ACBL in 1980 and had been playing casually off-and-on since high school. I
became a Grand Life Master after winning Senior Swiss Teams at 2012 Summer NABC.

Career/professional activities:
Worked at daily newspapers: Greensboro and Charlotte, North Carolina; Detroit; and Atlanta for 24 years before early retirement. First 15 years as writer and editor in sports departments, then as desk editor in news and features departments.

Education:
Public schools in Shorewood, Wisconsin; Duke University (1972)

Hobbies and interests:
Travel, college basketball, politics, real classic rock and all things Grateful Dead, “South Park” and “The Daily Show”

Family:
Married to Barbara since 1992 (we were introduced at a bridge tournament three years earlier). Package deal included daughter, Amanda, and son, Rob. Moved from Decatur, Georgia, to Knoxville in December 2011 to be near them and, primarily, grandchildren Haley, Jesse, Brenna and Brandon (now a good, experienced caddy).
